It became clear that Toni's issues encompassed neurological problems, and with this knowledge,
Ken was able to advocate certain directions, which converged with an amazing RN's "spidey sense"
to move aggressively with scans.
Still, that did not prepare everyone for the finding of:
- A brain tumor
- Cervical stenosis
- Pre-cancerous CIN 3
- An autoimmune condition that failed to reveal itself easily
Ken continued to perfect the system, and it became smarter and essential to handling the
over 100 tests that Toni had gone through in about 30 days.
Why We Built This
A final experience with a neurosurgery consult that did not address listed symptoms,
and only grudgingly amended notes to acknowledge the possible impact of her stenosis,
led Ken to download all images and write a full 3D MRI analysis engine—and that is when
MedAdvocate was born.
As standard in software development practice, looking at GitHub for examples and projects
resulted in nothing that matched what Ken & Toni needed:
a central place to log symptoms with time and date, record results of tests, and create a powerful
way to communicate to disparate specialists.
